Hares have a long tradition in folk-lore around the world. In this design, each hare appears to have two ears, but in reality, there are only three ears between them. The hare is associated with the sea and the moon and the artist has added these elements to her picture.
On the back of the card, the artist has written an excellent description of the symbolism of the Triple Hare.
